Our Design Philosophy.

Established in 2000 by Christi Barbour and Christi Spangle, Barbour Spangle Design has grown into one of the most innovative and respected design firms in the country.

We believe everyone is entitled to great design no matter what your budget is, what type of project you have or who you are. Our talented team is distinguished by our exceptional reputation, creativity and client focus which combine to result in award-winning projects (so be sure to check out our Recognition page). And speaking of client focus, that is what some might say is our best attribute. Our clients tell us our approachable friendly nature makes the process an enjoyable one, and hearing that makes us very happy.

Our boutique studio has been intentionally designed to feel like a place where you are meeting up with old friends; yet we have the capabilities of a large corporate firm (without all the stuffy nonsense). Your project isn't the same as any other therefore we tailor both your design and our services to fit exactly what you need.

Have a specific budget? No problem. Need to be invoiced a certain way? You got it. Have existing furniture (or insert your own item here)? We will work around it. Want to be part of the process? We would love to have you join our team. Don’t want anything to do with the process? Gotcha. We will handle every detail for you.

You get the picture: It’s your project, it’s your set of rules and we plan to treat you like your project is the only one there is ~ period.

Collaboration is the key to our success. Quite often we hear our clients say "there are just so many decisions to be made and people to deal with that I don't know where to start". That's what we are here for. Our knowledge and expertise enables us to plan, schedule, coordinate and manage your project from start to finish. Not to mention all the brilliant people we collaborate with (in addition, of course, to you) such as renowned architects, builders, and other consultants to see that your project is a success.

Working with us is all about being immersed in the creative process - whether creating a welcoming public space, an energized showroom to sell products or an intimate personal retreat - our goal is to listen to what your needs are, what your budget is and the timeframe you need to complete it in. It's our job to take it from there and make the process an enjoyable one. We are not looking to impose any one particular style on you. In fact our design philosophy is quite the opposite: we want to create spaces that convey who you are and we couldn't do that without listening to what you want. To ensure our designs stay current and fresh we travel, attend seminars and continuing education courses, meet with industry partners, shop trade shows and read, read, read. You won't catch any of us without a camera as we are always inspired by the world around us.
